Ethics for Educators
Ethics for Educators (PHI2623) is an eight-week, three-credit college course designed to meet the needs of Florida K-12 educators. This course presents a practical approach to recognizing, understanding and solving ethical problems confronting educators in today's society.
Developed in cooperation with the Florida Department of Education and the National Center for Teacher Transformation, this training can be applied toward certification, recertification, or remediation for those who have had their licenses sanctioned as a result of ethical misbehavior.
Students will learn to use and apply ethical concepts representing main themes in moral philosophy; current principles of professional conduct; Board of Education rules; and relevant Florida statutes, codes, rules and laws to resolve ethical issues. Emphasis will be placed on the development of skills necessary for critical thinking and responsible decision-making.
Additional resources for this course include the textbook, Education Ethics Applied, Edition 2.0 and online video lessons produced to supplement the textbook.
A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree and permission of the program director are required prerequisites for this course.
